Honorary Membership may be granted by the Executive Council to persons who deserve special recognition or who have retired because of age or disability under the categories designated as follows:
1. Lifetime Membership may be granted to those persons of prestigious stature who are nominated by the Association president and approved by the Executive Council including, but not limited to:
a. Recipients of the Distinguished Information Sciences Award (formerly Computer Science Man of the Year Award).
b. Former Association Presidents.
c. Recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Persons designated as Lifetime members shall receive all benefits and privileges of Regular membership at no cost to the individual. All levels of dues are waived. No dues invoice is mailed.
2. Senior Membership may be granted to those active members who become totally disabled or who retire at age 60 or later, or who retire prior to age 60 upon reaching the age of 60. Such persons must have ten years of membership in the Association, with five consecutive years being immediately prior to the date of disablement or retirement. Senior status may be granted, upon written application of the member, with approval by the chapter board of directors.
a. Annual dues for Seniors will be one-half of the Association dues plus one-half of the Region dues, plus one-half of chapter dues (rounded to the nearest dollar). If for any reason a chapter is disbanded, each member designated Senior in that chapter may continue membership in AITP by paying one-half the current year's Association dues plus one-half of the Region dues, as applicable, for Regular Members (each rounded to the nearest dollar).
b. Senior Members shall receive all benefits and privileges of Regular Membership.
c. Invoice is sent to individual member.
3. Emeritus Membership may be granted to those who qualify as Senior Members where their service to the Association warrants continued membership without cost to the individual. Emeritus status requires the recommendation of the chapter board of directors, with final approval by the Executive Council. Only persons having acquired the Diamond Individual Performance Award shall be considered for this s status.
a. Reduced Association dues are payable each year by the chapter. Such dues shall be one-third of the current year's Association
dues as applicable for Regular membership (each rounded to the nearest dollar). If for any reason the chapter is disbanded, the Association will waive both the Association and the Region dues and continue the membership of the individual.
b. Persons designated as Emeritus shall receive all benefits and privileges of Regular membership.
c. Dues invoice is sent to the chapter.
NOTE: Any chapter applying for Emeritus membership for an individual will provide all materials in support of the membership to the Region president at least 30 days prior to the next Executive Council meeting. The Region president will request approval from the Executive Council.
